Park Hospital, now called Trafford General Hospital, was built in 1928 and accepted its first patients the year after. The hospital is perhaps best known for being chosen for a visit by Health Secretary Aneurin Bevan on the day the NHS was launched on 5th July 1948 to receive the ceremonial keys.

This book, co-authored by local historian and author Michael Billington and retired TGH surgeon Edmund Hoare, traces the history of the hospital and how it developed from the day of opening through the war years to the present day with images of old postcards of the hospital, maps, photographs from the archives (many never seen before), and more recent photographs.
